BARI – Instytut Nauk o Polityce i Administracji

The Border and Regional Studies Institute (BARI) is a research center at the University of Opole dedicated to interdisciplinary research, policy engagement, and education in the fields of border studies, cross-border cooperation, and regional development. Established in 2024, BARI has been recognised since 2025 as a Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence.

The institute conducts multidisciplinary research on cross-border cooperation, border governance, and regional integration in Europe, with particular attention to EU cohesion and neighborhood policies. BARI also focuses on the study of national and ethnic minorities, ethnic and linguistic diversity, and the social dynamics of border regions, as well as regional development and identities in Central Europe.
