The Centre for European Studies (CES) is an interdisciplinary department within the Faculty of Law from Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iași, Romania and operates as a Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence in European Studies, from 2009. The education (master and training programs) and research are focused on: regional development (resilience, cohesion, the center-periphery model, secondary growth poles, international specialization and competitiveness, tourism), migration, local and regional governance, European cohesion policy, cross-border cooperation and European Neighborhood Policy (see: https://cse.uaic.ro/en/research.htm).The Center is engaged in different research projects, the most important of them being as follows:
Aside of research activity the CES organizes numerous events focusing on problems of regional development and cross-border cooperation like seminars, debates, roundtables (grouped in the Scientific Seminars Series: Regional Development in the European Union. Economy, territoriality, policies – see: https://cse.uaic.ro/en/events.htm). Every year EURINT conference is organized with themes regarding regional development and cross-border cooperation.
The CES is also a partner of the following organizations: Regional Studies Association, University Association for Contemporary European Studies, European Consortium for Political Research, North East Regional Development Agency.

Gabriela Carmen PASCARIU has 30 years of teaching and research experience in the field of the European integration and policies, regional development, cross-border cooperation; she holds a Jean Monet Ad Personam Chair; she participated in 30 international & national projects in the area, having a high level of expertise in international cooperation. She developed 3 master curricula and 10 training programs in the field; She is editor in chief of the Eastern Journal of European Studies, also an expert for European Commission, Fonds de la Recherche Scientifique Belgium, AUF.
