To mark the 100th anniversary of women in the Polish police force, the University of Opole and the Provincial Police Headquarters in Opole are organising an academic conference. It will take place on 23 October 2025 at 9.30 a.m. in the Blue Hall of Collegium Maius (pl. Kopernika 11). The theme of the conference is: ‘The role of women in shaping security policy – management, development and future challenges.’
The main speaker will be the former Provincial Police Commander in Opole and the first woman appointed to the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police in Poland – Chief Superintendent (retired) Dr Irena Doroszkiewicz. The topic of her speech will be ‘The beginnings of the women’s police force in Poland’. She will be followed by:

“Resource management in crisis conditions”
- Dr Kamil Minkner, Professor at the University of Opole:
‘The image of female police officers in pop culture – between stereotype and reality’
- Teresa Wierzbowska, chairwoman of the board of the Sygnał Association:
‘Facts and myths about female management style’
- Deputy Inspector Ewelina Mączkorowska, Director of the Economic Crime Division of the National Police Headquarters:
‘Side by side. The power that unites – female leadership in the police force.’
- Małgorzata Bajsarowicz, director of PKO Bank Polski in Brzeg:
‘Financial independence for women’
This will be followed by a panel discussion with the speakers and the audience. It will be moderated by Dr Bartosz Maziarz from the Institute of Political Science and Administration at the University of Opole.
