Prof. Bartlomiej Kozera has died

It is with deep regret and sadness that we received the news that our colleague and friend Professor Bartlomiej Kozera passed away on April 14, 2025 after a serious illness. The Higher School of Pedagogy in Opole, and since 1994 the University of Opole, were the site of more than 40 years of the Professor’s work as a scholar and academic teacher. In 1968, he graduated from the WSP in Opole with a degree in Polish philology, followed by a degree in philosophy from the University of Warsaw. From 1998 to 2004, he served as director of the Institute of Social Sciences, from which the Institutes of Political Science, Sociology and Philosophy emerged. Professor Kozera, as the undisputed creator, leader and authority of the community of Opole philosophers, became director of the Institute of Philosophy. All those who accompanied Professor Kozera in his academic career remembered him first and foremost as a philosopher, a thinker who shared his own reflection about the world with others, open and always ready to talk. We, Opole political scientists, will remember Him in a special way, because the present scientific and didactic and institutional condition of our environment is the embodiment of Professor Bartlomiej Kozera’s vision and organizational work.
Farewell Philosopher, Professor and Friend.
